I was inspired today and I came up with an idea for a multi-media extravaganza. It will require a lot of research and planning though. I like the idea quite a bit and I think that with some work that it might evolve into something marvelous.

Completely unrelated but still stemming from conversations that I had today... invigilate and proctor... very similar words, but I always tend to use invigilate rather than proctor. I wonder why, since it is probably less popular than proctor.

interesting weekend it's been (I did not mean to start talking like Yoda). I spent yesterday afternoon and evening in Hudson's Hope at a music festival of music I don't usually listen to, and today I went to a demolition derby. My work takes me to strange places.

random thoughts...

my birthday is in exactly two weeks. I have nothing special planned and probably won't do anything extraordinary.

I wonder how often Blockbuster has to give out free rentals on the "guarenteed in stock or it's free" movies now that they have "waived" late fees.

When I lived alone in Victoria, one of the first things I would do when I walked through the front door after stripping down to my scanties (I was always bloody hot when I got home) was turn on Toshi, my fourteen inch flatscreen ultradeluxe television. I don't like the sounds of an empty house when I first come home... it's very unsettling. Especially the drone of the fridge.

Today I came home to an empty house. I arrived home late and everyone in the house was out as apparently that is what everyone does on Friday nights. I wasn't alone for too long... just as I was heading off to bed my younger brother came home from his dance and told me a few entertaining stories about how he was teaching his fellow students the classic lawnmower dance, bring in the plane, and the hot oven. He also told me that all of his teachers thought he was very Miami Vice in his linen suit... and that his friend had a breakdance off with someone who couldn't break dance, and another friend was dancing with the waitress who apparently had some moves. Oh the youthful exuberance of 15 year olds.

Anyhow, I'm off to bed. I spent the afternoon in the sun at a rather dull golf tournament because I was slightly "stranded" in Taylor. The highway was closed and I was not going to take the 45 minute dusty detour back into Fort St. John. So I hung out and took photos and yawned excessively as I'm doing now. Hence why I'm heading off to sleep.

W. and I finally took wedding photos of T. from work. I'm quite pleased with some of the shots that we took. W. took an absolutely gorgeous photo that I'm sure he will be posting to his flickr photostream at some point in the near future, and I posted a few this evening even though I am desperately tired and should have gone to bed as soon as I came home from the photo excursion.

After taking photos tonight I really wish I had a giant photo studio... and that I took photos for a living. Although I was exhausted I was having so much fun. I couldn't wait to come home to see the photos and get working on any post edits.

but I should really try to sleep. I'll have all tomorrow night to edit photos and organize them... after I take photos of my younger brother's end of the year dance.

All I want before the end of the summer is to be paid for taking photos for at least one wedding.

how quickly an evening disappears... almost as quickly as my energy disappears when I come home and crawl into bed after being out all day. I had plans for a lovely blog post where I would chronicle my latest brilliant thought and analyze my reliance on other individuals. I don't feel up to it anymore though. I went out tonight when I probably should have stayed home with some tea and a blanket. I must be getting tired of week after week of this hurry up and wait atmospheric pressure of this job that I have. I'll never know why I'm so critical of every damn thing... I should really watch my negativity level... I think it must be scaring off all of my prospective suitors.

oh, and I'm moving in a couple weeks. When my heartless friend takes his much deserved "vacation" (aka escape from hell or when he leaves town like a bat out of hell) I'm going to paint the other bedroom and finally unpack some of my boxes and move into the other bedroom. Makes sense... I need more room and I'll have nothing better to do really.

Anyhow, I'm off to bed.

Not many people would leave you in their house with wine and cheese so you could watch a tv show while they go for a drive with their friend who dropped by unexpectedly. That's what happened tonight. W. & I went to watch a show at J.'s house, he had a friend over... and almost as soon as we arrived J. & friend left and went for a drive while W. & I made ourselves at home with some white wine, melba toast, and cheese. Very funny.

I had an argument with a friend today over who was more depressed, him or me.

Here's the situation:

• We're both insanely hilarious (him more so than me)
• We're both amazingly brilliant (me more so than him... gotta give myself some credit)
• We're both ridiculously good looking
• We both have lacklustre love lives (me more so than him)
• We both have love only from family and friends (him more so than me... as in he has more friends than I do)

It's not difficult to understand how by this criteria I rank as more depressed (or depressing) than he does. In the grand scheme of things I'm really not that depressed... just wallowing in my perpetual anti-socialite state. What must one do in this town to go on a date? Take out a radio ad? Advertise in the newspaper?The possibilities are endless...

so, moral of the story... in an attempt to cheer up my friend I merely reinforced how despite all my fabulous qualities I will still be dateless this Friday night.

My father recently purchased a new bicycle (classic tandem style), and today he was leaving the house just as I was leaving to go to work. I noticed something odd about his bicycle attire though. It wasn't the combination of his dress pants and new helmet, rather his leather bike gloves. You see, my father is quite practical and on seeing the prices for bike gloves at the store he decided he didn't want to invest $50 on junk. So he went home and cut the fingers off of some better quality leather work gloves and voila, he has a new pair of bike gloves. They wouldn't look so horrible if they weren't splattered with deck stain... but my darling papa doesn't care so much about style.

Had a conversation recently with a new storeowner in town about men's style. We were both in agreement that the stereotypical FSJ male is afraid of colour... On that note here is an excerpt from an article on fashion in the most recent Bell'Italia magazine.

It's a rainy, rainy day outside. It's technically my weekend but I had to go to work for a bit this afternoon. I'm a little tired and all I would like to do is watch a little tv but I have no tv to watch. I suppose I should specify that I do not have television reception not the physical television set.

Anyhow, yesterday evening I took some photos at a dance recital with W. my photo chum. I was a little disappointed with the lack of performance etiquette on the part of the many parents. In between each performance mothers were rushing back and forth between the dressing rooms to help their children change costumes. I was standing near the front of the stage by the exit doors that lead to the change room hallway and I found the costant flow of traffic accompanied by the slamming door to be very annoying.

In all I think I got a few good shots. I posted some of the better ones to my flickr photostream. I need some more photography equipment... so here's a friendly reminder that someone (that someone being me) has a birthday coming up...

I'm not pregnant nor have I found a boyfriend nor have I found a couple to hang around with.

Here's the story... this couple I know who are the same age as me who married early are expecting their first baby in December. I'm not too concerned with that, and as Paul Anka is singing right now (quite fittingly I must say) it's my life... or rather it is their life and having a baby seems to be what they would consider to be the next step in their relationship. Hearing heard this news (thanks for the scoop A.) did not make me overly conscious of a biological clock (I had my share of faux motherhood when I was housesitting and babysitting) but I did become a little conscious of my current status: single, student, basement dweller, poor, anti-socialite/social misfit, etc. I'm well aware that this is not a very positive train of thought. But I'm a wee bit tired of my dismal financial situation, basement dwelling, and no romantic dates. I would like to see a little improvement in each of these three areas. Hearing how everyone else seems to be progressing when I feel like I'm stuck in limbo... well it is just a little like a kick to the groin. Well not quite so bad... a slap to the wrist perhaps... or a bang to the funny bone... a tingling sense of pain... an ironic kind of hurt.

My consolation prize... my ego defense levels are quite high which allows me to bask in the belief of my own brilliance. I need something to cling to after all.

Picasa is not quite perfect, but for a free program it's pretty damn good. I just tried out the backup feature... and having a large number of photos on my computer that I must continually back up to CD or DVD because I haven't replaced my external harddrive yet, I often loose track of what folders I've backed up and which ones I haven't. But that was because I wasn't using Picasa to back up my photos. You see, Picasa keeps track of what folders have been backed up which ones haven't. I'm all for built in tools that keep my back ups on track. Love it.

Completely unrelated... Antonio told me to check out this new album from Paul Anka this morning. I'm most amused by it.
