My return to the cold north is only temporary, it’s not as tragic as I would like to make it out to be… but my mindset is considerably different when I am here. Maybe it’s because I’m surrounded by memories of old… of less exciting times where I may have been stuck in a routine that was neither healthy nor happy.

My recent non-degree related pursuits have included a return to the study of my on again/off again hobby of photography. At times I am much more serious photographer… one who actively seeks a beautifully composed photo as compared to a quick snapshot. I can’t claim to be a great photographer by any means, but I am currently inspired. My sole friend in this cold community is a motivating force like no other… and perhaps it is competition that fuels me, but even if it is I can’t complain. Whether it is described as competition or cooperation… I’m attempting to take better photos and that can never be a bad thing.

I have to claim that I am also somewhat of a motivating factor (or at least my camera is) since above mentioned “motivating” friend has purchased a very similar camera to mine… in fact it is the same model, but in a beautiful sleek black instead of a cheezalicious “titanium” look. What can I say, I like my cameras black. Anyhow… I am supremely jealous of the new black model.
